AKJA Open National Judo Championships:
The A.K.J.A. National Titles is again open to non-Association members which is a promising sign of the commitment and work by the National body in an attempt to unify Australian Judo. However, all entrants (except International Competitors) must enter through the A.K.J.A. affiliated State Association. Please find enclosed information on various accommodation and tourist locations handy to the venue which we hope will suit all of your accommodation needs.
Australian Masters Games:
There will be no AKJA “Veterans” divisions this year due to the amalgamation of the tournament with the 13th Australian Masters Games (AMG). Masters aged competitors will be required to enter the Australian Masters Games for competition. This can be done by going to the AMG website at www.australianmastersgames.com and completing the online entry form or by contacting the AMG office on (08) 8409 1900 and requesting they send out a hard copy registration booklet. The cost for competing in the Masters Games is higher than the AKJA Nationals but there are bonuses and freebies on offer for Masters Competitors included with their entry fee.
PLEASE NOTE: Players will NOT be able to turn up on the day expecting to compete in the Masters Aged events if they have not registered with the Australian Masters Games prior to the event.
The Masters Kata Tournament will be incorporated into the Nationals Kata Tournament on Friday 7th October commencing at 5.00pm. Saturday 8th October will be a rest day for the Masters Aged participants who can enjoy watching the junior & intermediate competitors. All Masters Games weight divisions will be held on Sunday 9th October.
Opening Ceremony:
An opening ceremony to commence the AKJA National Championships and the Australian Masters Games will be held between 9.30am – 10.00am on Saturday, prior to the commencement of the Junior Competition. Junior, Intermediate & Senior competitors competing in the National Championship Divisions will assemble in their individual State Teams. Masters Aged participants will assemble together as the AMG competitor group. This will make it easier to recognise the Masters Competitors and recognise their participation.
